Positive Living Centre quarterly newsletter

Positive Living Centre

2015 – 2018

Over a three-year period, I volunteered my design services to redesign the Positive Living Centre’s (PLC) newsletter. Based in Melbourne, the PLC provides essential support and holistic services to individuals and families affected by HIV.

The primary function of the newsletter is to connect community members with vital services offered by the PLC and partner organisations. My goal was to move away from the impersonal feel of stock photography and replace it with authentic visual storytelling.

Design process

  • I collaborated closely with members of the positive community to coordinate and execute a series of original photoshoots. By featuring people with lived experience from the local community, we transformed the publication into a mirror of the diverse population it serves.

  • This shift from generic imagery to authentic representation was crucial as it ensured that the newsletter didn't just provide information, but also celebrated the resilience and visibility of the people at the heart of the organisation.
